Q. Do I need to prepare anything for your visit to my house?
A. The simple answer is no. I bring everything with me, people are always amazed by how much equipment I bring (almost a mobile salon!) Some people prefer to have their hair already shampooed before I arrive but that is your decision. Normally if it is your first appointment I suggest not shampooing it before I arrive so that I can see the natural movement whilst it is dry.
Q. Do I need to provide my own towels?
A. No, it really is as if you had gone to the salon, I bring all the towels we need!
Q. Which room is best for you to work in?
A. This is up to you, what I do ask for is an area with enough room to work in, a table or work top near by and a kitchen/dining room type chair. We need a room with an electric socket in but I do bring extension leads along.
Q. How long will you take to do my hair?
A. This depends on which service you are having and the length of your hair. A dry cut is 20mins to 1/2 hour, a cut and blow dry takes between 45mins-1 hour, Colour or Highlights around 2 hours. Obviously it does depend on your hair. If you need confirmation of the timing please get in touch.
Q. How much notice do you need for an appointment?
A. This depends on what service you are wanting. I do get booked quite quickly but please get in touch as sometimes appointments are available at short notice if someone alters their booking and I can nearly always work later or earlier in the day to accommodate your booking.
Q. Do you offer evening appointments?
A. Yes! I work evenings and very early in the morning to give you more flexibility for booking an appointment. I also work Saturdays and for weddings can start as early as necessary (6.00 am onwards)
Q. Is it really essential to have a skin test before having my hair coloured, I've never had an allergic reaction to colour before?
A. It is very important for us to conduct a skin test before you have your hair coloured, it is for your safety so we can rule out any sensitivity to the ingredients used in colour. It is quite rare for people to have any sensitivity to colour but you can change and develop sensitivity even if you have never had problems before, again this is quite rare. A simple quick skin test rules out any problems and guarantees your safety. If you showed sensitivity to any of the ingredients used we would use alternative methods for colouring your hair.
Q. What areas do you cover geographically?
A. I'm based in Gloucester city but cover large areas of Gloucestershire, Cheltenham, Stroud and Herefordshire for day to day hairdressing and for weddings will travel much further afield into Oxfordshire, Wales, Wiltshire, Avon, Somerset and further. If you have a request for a particular location please email me to see if it is an area that I can cover.
Q. Can you apply a home colour for me?
A. Unfortunately I'm not able to use products designed for home use as my insurance doesn't cover me (or you). However I can easily match any colour that you have chosen and using professional products I will produce a better result for you. Professional colouring products really do provide a much better finish and longer lasting colour.
Q. Can I purchase professional products from you?
A. Yes! All of the styling products, shampoos, conditioners and intensive conditioning treatments are available for you to buy for home use. I strongly recommend professional, salon only, shampoos and conditioners especially if you have coloured, highlighted or permed hair. The small extra cost of professional products is more than made up for in the improved condition of your hair. Try them and see!
